Billy Graham

Billy Graham was one of the most influential and admired people of the 20th century, and rightly so.

He was a great evangelist.

He was a great orator.

By all accounts, a mighty man of God. We can learn a lot from him.

I never met Billy Graham, but just listening to him I have been impressed. I wondered at first what it was. He was a great orator, certainly. But there was more. There was no arrogance about him, somehow. You somehow knew that he was there to promote God, not himself. It was I think simply because he was so genuine about this that he appeared so genuine. He developed and used his powers of oratory to serve others.

Suppose Billy Graham had been blessed with only one of these gifts? Suppose he had been given this heart for evangelism, but not the gift of oratory that made him so famous? Would he still have been a great evangelist, even though you would probably never have heard of him?
