A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ
We work out our followship in several ways:
- We pray, and worship the God Jesus spoke about.
- We study the Bible, both the Old Testament which Jesus called Scripture and the New Testament which tells us more about Jesus in the words of those who knew him or knew those who knew him.
- We go to church, and seek the counsel and at times discipline of other Christians.
We expect these three authorities, the Spirit, the Scriptures, and the Church, to agree. If they don't agree, it doesn't mean that two of them can outvote the third. Democracy is not the way God works! It means we've got something wrong, and need to fix it.
Many Christians have found praying the sinner's prayer to be the first time they really knew they were a Christian. Worth a look!
